2019 Track Season

Spencer had another good track season this year. I'd say it was his best season so far. He didn't dread complain about going to practice so much and didn't come home nearly as wiped out as he had in the past. He is finding his groove as a runner more and stuck to distance events and javelin at the three meets he attended.

Spencer has a good attitude of not worrying too much about what place he gets in his races. Instead he focuses on setting new personal records. And he did a great job with that this year!

Here are Spencer's Stats for this season:
Sherwood Meet:
     1500 meter =6.26.45
     Javelin =58' 7"

Tigard Meet:
     1500 meter = 6.44.97
     Javelin = 58' 3"

State Meet in Newberg:
     Javelin =71' 10"

Way to go Spencer! It is neat to not only watch him improve, but also to learn to really enjoy running. He has been asking us to go running with him once or twice a week all summer without any pressure from us.

And, here are the pics. We lucked out with weather this year! No rain or hail, even at the Tigard Meet! Alan timed both the Sherwood and Tigard Meets so it was fun to have him there and see him in action. He is really good at making meets run smoothly and quickly. I think we were home by about 1:00 for both the Sherwood and Tigard Meets. It helped that Spencer only did two events instead of three. Alan took Spencer to the State Meet on his own because I had a conflict.

The end of season party was a fun bbq at a local park. The track kids got to play "The Amazing Race" while the adults ate. It was 90 degrees that evening, but Spencer still loved it. Mason had fun getting absolutely filthy. Fun times!
