Celebrating Spencer!

The best part of April was celebrating Spencer's 15th birthday! 15!! It fell on a Thursday when he had a band festival from 8am-6pm and then a youth activity at 7pm. We didn't get to see him much on his actual birthday, but made up for it later with his favorite foods on Sunday and then a friend party a week and a half later.

Almost as tall as Alan!

Packing up for a long day. Spencer's school days have all been really long this year. He leaves at 6:50 am for seminary and usually isn't home until after practice around 5:30 pm. He has loved it all but has finally decided he likes weekends and the chance they give him to sleep in a little.

He had just a few minutes to work on his new Lego set before dinner and young men's that night.

We celebrated again on Sunday when we had a little more time. The boys eat waffles every Sunday morning, but they get strawberries and whipped cream on them for special occasions. Mason helped make this short cake, pudding, and Oreo dessert that Spencer loves.

We had his friend party a week later. Spencer just wanted to play some games and have snacks. Easiest party for me ever! I just set out the food and left them alone.

I know I've said this before, but Spencer is just such a great kid! He is so responsible with any task he's given. I never have to get on his case about school work or practicing the clarinet and rarely have to remind him to practice the piano or do his chores. He works hard and does his best in everything he does whether it's seminary or track practice. He's kind to everyone and has lots of different friend groups: dungeons and dragons friends, band friends, running friends, church friends, plus his best friend S. (Those two pretty much still only play Pokemon together and I hope they stay that innocent forever!) Spencer is even mostly kind to his younger brother. ;) He loves to hang out with friends on the weekends, but also doesn't complain about spending time with us, unless it's hiking. Haha! I spend a few minutes chatting with him before bed every night and love that he still likes to talk to me and still thinks I'm a little funny!

Spencer's old enough to get his learner's permit now and plans to study and take the test for that when he has a little more free time in the summer.

We feel so blessed to have Spencer in our family and thank our Heavenly Father for him every night! Love you Spence!
